Move All Data From an Old Computer to a New Computer

If you purchased a new computer and wish to move all your Star Analyzer data from your old computer to your new one, there are several ways to do it.

Please check the Star Analyzer version on your old computer before moving your data to a new computer.

Start Star Analyzer on your old computer.
You will find the program version at the very top of the main Star Analyzer screen.
The current version of Star Analzyer is V8.44F, and it is compatible with all Microsoft Windows versions.. If your program version has a lower number than the current version, then you should download an update before you proceed.

On the old computer, start Star Analyzer.
Click the Database | Backup menu at the top of the main screen.
On the Backup screen, select the backup drive you wish to use. We suggest you use a Flash USB Drive rather than attempting to use a CD-ROM, which not work well.
Click the Backup button to backup your data.
Insert the backup disk (Flash Drive) in the new computer.
Download and install Star Analyzer on the new computer.
Start Star Analyzer on the new computer.
If this is the first time you have run Star Analyzer on the new computer, select "Restore Database from a Backup Disk" on the New Database screen that pops up and your backup data will be "restored" onto the new computer.
If you do not see the New Database screen, then you already have a database on the new computer. You may click the Database | Restore menu at the top of the screen if you wish to overwrite all the already in the new computer with data from the old computer. If you do not wish to overwrite all the existing data, then use Method 2, below.
If the program is not unlocked, click the Unlock menu at the top of the main screen, and then click the Obtain Unlock Code button.

On the old computer highlight all the properties you wish to export. Hold the Ctrl key down and click individual properties, or hold the Shift key down and select a range of properties. You may also click the button with the red down-arrow just above the list of properties and click "Select all Properties".
Click File, Export, Export Analyzer (AN8) Native Data File.
All you selected files will be exported to your Flash USB Drive or other backup drive.
Download and install Star Analyzer on your new computer.
Start Star Analyzer on the new computer.
Click File, Import, Import Analyzer (AN8) Native Data File.
The files you exported from the old computer will now be imported to the new computer.
If the program is not unlocked, click the Unlock menu at the top of the main screen, and then click the Obtain Unlock Code button.

Install Star Analyzer on the new computer.
Copy the C:\StarAnalyzerData folder from the old computer to the new computer.
Download and install Star Analyzer on your new computer.
Start Star Analyzer on the new computer.
If the program is not unlocked, click the Unlock menu at the top of the main screen, and then click the Obtain Unlock Code button.
